Detailed Overview

Rara Lake Trek is a natural delight for those who would love to immerse themselves in the serene and scenic beauty of mountains, lakes, and lush nature. It takes you to the far northwest region of Nepal, in the Mugu district, to relish the tantalizing glory of Rara Lake. Rara Lake Trek is the largest lake nestled in the lap of the Nepalese Himalayas at an altitude of 2990 meters above sea level. Covering an area of 10.8 sq. km, the lake is a natural pride with a blue shimmering lake in the shadows of the beautiful Himalayas. The lake lies in one of the remote sections of Nepal, with a pristine environment all around, which is a plus point for every enthusiastic trekker out there.

The trail to Rara Lake goes through the boundary of Rara National Park, which is a living showcase of the varieties of flora, fauna, birds, and butterflies found in different ecological regions and climatic conditions. Rara Lake Trek allows you to walk through the dense forests along an off-beaten route with striking views of mountains in sight. Do not be surprised if you get a glimpse of musk deer, leopard, goral, Himalayan black bear, red panda, or lophophores on your way because the national park is home to many species of plants, birds, animals, and reptiles. As per the latest survey, around 1074 species of flowers, 51 species of mammals, and 214 species of birds have been noticed in that area.

Rara Lake has been described as a shimmering blue jewel set in a ring of snowy peaks by Bill Greer, the founder of the Great Outdoors Recreation Pages. The description gives us an idea about the heavenly beauty of Rara Lake. Besides the off-beaten nature of the Rara Lake Trek, the trek allows us an opportunity to cross GhurchiLagna Pass at an elevation of 3450 meters. The trail to Rara Lake undulates up and down via charming villages, dense forests, and lots of ridges. Rara Lake Trek is probably one of the difficult treks that requires a lot of stamina and endurance capacity, but the captivating beauty that this trek possesses is beyond any difficulty.

World Alpine Trek is pleased to escort you on your journey to Rara Lake. If you are interested in the trek, let us know for more details. We even have other off-beaten trekking packages to cater to your lust for mountains, nature, and adventure.

Seamless Adventure to Annapurna Base Camp with World Alpine Trek

Our trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) with World Alpine Trek was beyond amazing. From the moment we booked, Mr. Rabin provided all the info we needed quickly and clearly, which made us feel at ease right away. Everything was organized perfectly, including backup plans for any hiccups.

Mr. Deepak, our guide, was the true highlight. He was calm, professional, and never rushed us. He encouraged us to walk at our own pace, soak in the views, and reminded us that it was our holiday, so no need to stress! Every day, he would tell us when we’d eat, where we’d sleep, and always had a Plan B ready. It was like he knew our concerns before we even voiced them. Plus, the porters Mr. Amrit and Pramote were incredibly friendly and supportive, keeping us going even when the weather turned.

The accommodations were fantastic. In Kathmandu, the hotel was spacious, comfy, and conveniently close to Thamel. On the trail, the lodges were lovely—often with great views (unless it was raining or foggy!). Definitely bring layers, as the weather can change quickly, and good rain gear is a must!

Despite constant rain toward the end and flight delays, we never felt worried. The team handled everything with such ease that we felt completely carefree.

Lastly, big thanks to Dinesh my last EBC guide for introducing us to World Alpine Trek. His recommendation made all the difference, and I can’t recommend this company enough for a memorable ABC trek!

Thank you to everyone at World Alpine Trek, especially to Mr. Deepak, Dinesh, Amrit, Pramote and all the team members. We are James, New Jacky, and Yo, and we truly appreciate the wonderful experience!

    Great ABC Trek Experience

My sincere thanks to the team of World Alpine Treks, without their help I would not have been able to complete the ABC trek. The guides and porters were professional, friendly and thoughtful. I was in bad condition due to a cold during the trek, but because of their care and help along the way, I was able to complete the trek safely. Highly recommend World Alpine Treks to anyone thinking of trekking in Nepal.
