Detailed Overview

The Annapurna Panorama Trek takes you into the heart of the world's most celebrated trekking region — the Annapurna massif — without demanding weeks of your time or an expert level of fitness. This trek combines breathtaking mountain scenery, traditional village culture, and one of the finest sunrise viewpoints in all of the Himalayas, making it the perfect introduction to trekking in Nepal. The undisputed highlight is the pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill at 3,210 m, where the golden light of sunrise washes over an unbroken wall of snow-capped peaks.

We begin our journey with a short flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, the vibrant lakeside city that serves as the gateway to the Annapurna Region. From Pokhara, a scenic drive brings us to Hile, where the trail begins in earnest. The path winds through bamboo forests, past a cascading waterfall, and through the lively village of Birethanti before climbing steadily via stone-paved stairways to the large Magar village of Ulleri at 2,050 m.

From Ulleri, the trail ascends through dense rhododendron and oak forests toward Ghorepani at 2,860 m — one of the most charming villages along the entire route. Ghorepani is home to the warm Gurung community, whose traditional stone houses and genuine hospitality make it a memorable stop on our journey. The forests here burst into vivid colour during spring, and the mountain views grow broader and bolder with every step upward.

The highlight of our trek arrives early the next morning, when we rise before dawn and climb to the legendary Poon Hill viewpoint. The panorama from here is staggering — Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Varaha Shikhar, and Lamjung Himal all come into view in one sweeping, unforgettable vista. After soaking in the scenery, we continue along forested ridgelines to the peaceful village of Tadapani.

The final stretch of our trekking journey descends through beautiful woodland terrain to Ghandruk, a celebrated Gurung village with its own commanding views of the Annapurna range. Throughout the route, we pass terraced farmlands, cross suspension bridges over rushing mountain streams, and move through landscapes that shift from lush subtropical foothills to open alpine ridgelines.

We make our way down from Ghandruk to Kimche, where a vehicle carries us back to Pokhara for a relaxing evening beside the calm waters of Phewa Lake. We then drive back to Kathmandu along the scenic Prithvi Highway — carrying home memories of mountain mornings, warm village welcomes, and a Himalayan sunrise that no photograph can truly do justice.

An Unforgettable Annapurna Base Camp Adventure with World Alpine Treks

What an unforgettable experience trekking to Annapurna Base Camp with World Alpine Treks! This was my first long trek, and it was truly amazing. I couldn’t have made it without Deepak, our guide, and our two incredible porters, Amrit and Pramod. Throughout the journey, we faced challenges like a minor accident, heavy rain, and a canceled flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. But Deepak was always there, doing his best to support us through it all. He’s not only a professional guide but also a kind-hearted gentleman.

When my bag went missing after I returned to Thailand, Deepak went above and beyond to help me reach out to the airport and airline staff multiple times. Although they couldn't locate my bag, I’m truly grateful for his assistance.

If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Nepal, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced trekker, I highly recommend World Alpine Treks.
