The Lower Mustang region lies in the shadows of two mighty mountains – Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The region is mostly barren, and the vibrant villages in the region with farmlands look like an oasis in the desert. Lower Mustang Trek can be a rewarding experience as the trail traverses to the deepest gorge of the world with some stunning views of Annapurna Himal, Dhaulagiri Himal, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Macchapucchre, Mt. Tukuche, etc. in sight.

From Kagbeni, the trail ascends up to Muktinath, which is a holy site in that area that offers some stunning views of mthe ountains in the Annapurna range.
Muktinath is a pilgrimage hub for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. There is a pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There are 108 waterspouts around the temple and an eternal flame, which is said to be fed by natural gas. But people consider it to be a divine flame.
