Tamang Heritage trek starts with a guided tour around the heritage sites in Kathmandu, which is followed by a drive to Syabrubensi. From Syabrubensi, we walk along the beautiful landscape and pass the village of Galtang with astonishing views of forests and mountains on sight. We then walk towards the Tamang villages of Nagthali, Thuman, and Birdim, where we can get some in-depth insights on Tamang culture and the traditional lifestyle of people. On the way to Nagthali, we pass Tatopani, where we can enjoy a hot water bath in the natural hot springs of Tatopani.
The trek traverses to some lush hills, forests, and villages of the Langtang region with panoramic views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang range on site. It is quite accessible from Kathmandu and near to Langtang National Park. The first day marks your arrival day in Kathmandu. Clear all the visa requirements and customs clearance if any at the arrival section of the airport. As you come out, you will find a representative from World Alpine Treks waiting for you holding a board with your name. You will then be transferred to your hotel at Kathmandu. The representative will shortly inform you about the plans ahead.
The second day is a day tour just to warm up prior to your trekking journey. Kathmandu is a city enriched with artistic palaces, beautiful monuments, ancient temples, and other constructions of historical and cultural importance. No wonder the city has seven out of ten UNESCO listed world heritage sites. Today, you will be guided to the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. These heritages are perfect examples of rich history, exceptional culture, and architectural treasures of Nepal. At first, you will be taken to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The art, crafts, and carvings in the palaces, temples, and other monuments of the durbar square are excellent. After that, you will be escorted to Swayambhunath stupa (Monkey temple), Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa respectively. (Inclusive of breakfast)
Today, we leave Kathmandu and head north towards Syabrubensi. It is around seven hours’ drive from Kathmandu via bus/jeep. We take a vehicle and drive along a scenic route full of hills and lush countryside landscape. On the way, we pass Dhunche and follow a trail that crosses the Trishuli river with a quick glance at Ganesh Himal. Further, we pass villages and farmland and head deep into the region until we reach Syabrubensi. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse in Syabrubensi. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
Leaving Syabrubensi, we start our trekking journey with a pleasant walk along with the pristine environment. We pass many traditional villages on our way and ascend slowly to a viewpoint that offers some fascinating views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang range. From the viewpoint, we descend to Goljung valley and walk through some settlement areas and farmlands until we reach a jovial Tamang village of Galtang. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse in Galtang. As we move ahead from Galtang, we descend down to Thangbuche that lies very near to the Chilime village. There is a Chilime Hydropower project ongoing near the Bhotekoshi river. We pass the Chilime Hydropower dam and ascend up through the trail until we reach Tatopani. Tatopani is an exciting place. Tatopani is comprised of two Nepali words – Tato and pani, which means hot and water, respectively. And as its name denotes, Tatopani is a place with natural hot springs. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse in Tatopani. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
Early in the morning, you can enjoy a hot water bath in the natural hot water springs of Tatopani to soothe your mind and body. After breakfast, we continue our journey towards the next Tamang village in Langtang region. We pass dense alpine forests on the way to Brimdang, a small Tamang settlement area. Next, we walk uphill towards the Nagthali hill. From the top of the hill, we can get some spectacular views of Langtang Himal, Sanjeng Kerung, Ganesh Himal, and other peaks.
Further, we walk downhill to the Tamang village of Thuman. From Thuman, we descend to the village of Timur. It is yet another Tamang settlement on the way. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse in Timur. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
Moving forward, we head towards another Tamang village of Buddhism. We continue to walk from Timur via Lingling. Located in the lap of Lantang Himal, Briddim is a beautiful village with an enormous influence on Tibetan Buddhist culture. Lying close to the border, the villages completely resembles that of the Tibetan villages. Tibetan Buddhist religion is prevalent there, which is reflected in the prayer flags, mani walls, and chortens along the way. We visit a monastery called Dukchu gompa in the village. From Buddhism, we descend down via the lush countryside landscape and pass various settlement areas and farmlands on the way to Syabrubensi. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse in Syabrubensi. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
Leaving Syabrubensi, we drive back via the same lush and pristine countryside landscape to the capital city of Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you can check into the hotel and relax in your hotel room for the rest of the time. Tonight, we stay at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Inclusive of breakfast and lunch)
Before a few hours of your scheduled flight, you will be transferred to the international terminal of Tribhuwan International airport. (Inclusive of Breakfast)
