Overview

Pisang peak climbing is one of the most popular and cherished peak climbing experiences in Nepal. It takes you to the top of Pisang peak; a beautiful peak that rises above the Manang valley in the backdrop of two giant mountains - Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Manaslu. Pisang peak at an elevation of 6091 meters is an alluring peak that stands tall above the Pisang village like a white pyramid in the northern border of Manang valley. It follows the classic route of the Annapurna circuit and offers good scope for mountain views, walks along the diversified landscape and peak climbing. Pisang peak is classified as a moderate climbing journey. Pisang peak climbing is not so challenging but demands glacial walking, which can be tough.

Pisang peak climbing starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani. We follow the trail of Annapurna Circuit Trek to the valley of Manang and then to Pisang village. The trail to Pisang is full of natural wonders. We will be rewarded with some striking views of mountains like Mt. Annapurna, Tilicho peak, Gangapurna, Dhaulagiri and many more. From Pisang, the trail follows a route through the yak pastures to the uniform slope of ice that will lead us to the top of the Pisang peak. The climb is not so technical and can be a good opportunity for the amateur climbers. After proper acclimatization in Pisang village, we follow a path that ascends up through sparse wood and yak pastures to Kharka (base camp). The trail further ascends up via Kharka to the southwest ridge of the peak. The final climb up to the peak is steep but well defined.

The adventure of Pisang peak climbing doesn’t end here. After accomplishing the top of the peak, we follow a trail that will lead us to Thorong La pass. We ascend the pass, cross the pass and descend to Muktinath. Muktinath is a holy site for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims located in a dramatic location amidst the towering mountains in the Annapurna range. One can enjoy some magnificent views of Annapurna panorama from this temple. From Muktinath, the trail drops down to Jomsom, and our journey ends with a flight to Pokhara followed by a drive back to Kathmandu.

Pisang peak climbing as a whole is a superb combo of mountain beauty, challenging trail, traditional villages and exposure to peak climbing adventure. From the foothills of Annapurna, the route traverses through different ethics settlements to the desert-like landscape of Manang and then to Thorong La pass, the highest pass of the world.
