Journey to Annapurna Base Camp & Mardi Himal

The exhilarating journey of Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Mardi Himal begins in Kathmandu, a bustling city with rich culture and history. The next day, you take a quick flight to Pokhara where serene beauty awaits. You only have a glimpse of the city as we continue our journey to Nayapul just after landing in Pokhara.

The drive to Birethanti via Nayapul is bumpy yet you will be awed by the natural beauty that surrounds the village. From Birethanti, the trekking journey officially starts as you hike towards Ulleri, meandering through ethnic towns and terraced fields.

Your next stop is the beautiful village of Ghorepani, set against the majestic Annapurnas. Moreover, Ghorepani is a picturesque settlement of Gurung communities with traditional stone houses offering rich cultural heritages of Gurung communities.

A true spectacle awaits as you hike to Poonhill early morning the next day to witness the gorgeous sunrise over the massive Annapurna range. The scenery energizes you more for an upcoming hike as the next on the trek includes walking for long hours through deep forests admiring mesmerizing views before reaching a rural village Chuile.

Leaving Chuile, you take a steep descent before crossing a suspension bridge, followed by a continuous steep walk until you reach yet another charming village of Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, you take a descent through stone steps and then cross a suspension bridge before taking an uneven path to Sinuwa. The view of Machhapuchre from Sinuwa is surreal as it seems it is just steps away.

As you move ahead in the journey, you will notice the thinning of the village as most of the trail from here on includes walking through lush forests and bypassing giant cascading waterfalls. Navigating the enchanting rhododendron forest, you reach the secluded village of Dovan. Enjoying the greenery, you make your way to Deurali, and then to the huge pastureland by Modi Khola, where you can see herds and flocks of goats and sheep grazing the plains and towering cliffs.

Before arriving at Machhapuchre Base Camp, you'll have to traverse a challenging, rugged trail. The trek will be arduous, but the breathtaking sight of the renowned Machhapuchre peak towering above will quickly overshadow the difficulties you face in reaching its base camp. The next day, you wake up to a stunning view of Machhapuchre glowing in all shades of orange and golden and afterward make your way towards Annapurna Base Camp.

The hike is not long yet the change in landscape and majestic scenery around you makes the hike all the more enjoyable and memorable. At night or early in the morning, do wake up for star grazing which adds even more delight to this already amazing trip.

Next morning, admire the all-encompassing sight of the Annapurna range and its neighboring peaks like Huinchuli, Niligiri, Tharpu-Chuli peaks, and more. After the enchanting experience, the journey entails descending to Bamboo taking the same route, and then to Jhinu Danda, the following day.

With Jhinu Danda, you complete one section of this combined trek. From Jhinu Danda, the adventure to Mardi Himal begins as you take the forested route towards Forest Camp. You will notice, that the trail to Mardi Himal is quite different than the ABC one.

It is quieter and more on the off-the-beaten side. The trekking path from Forest Camp goes through even denser woods towards High Camp. It is a steep climb but rewarding as striking views of Annapurna massif encourage you to move forward for even more stunning sights from Upper View Point. The scenes from Upper View Point offer unparalleled sights of the Annapurna range along with Gangapurna, different faces of Niligiri, and a very close-up view of Mount Macchapuchhre.

After this incredible experience, you descend to Low Camp and then to Sidding Village, where you get to glance at the rural lifestyle of the ethnic communities once again. The trek to Sidding Village concludes our trekking journey and from here on you will take on a scenic drive back to Pokhara.
