Khopra Ridge Trek is a recently introduced trekking alternative in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Owning to its off beaten natured trail, less crowded area and wonderful views of lush hills and mountains in abundance, the trek has gained lots of attraction from fellow travelers lately. It is also compared to the popular Ghorepani Poonhill Trek and has been taken as the best alternative for the same spectacular views of mountains, hills, and valley through a less crowded route. Khopra Ridge Trek commences with a beautiful drive along a scenic route to the lakeside city of Pokhara. From Pokhara, the trail goes through the foothills of Annapurna to the charming Ghandruk village with astounding views of hills and mountains on sight. Further, the trail extends to different villages and kharkas on the way to Khora ridge trek. From the ridge, one will be rewarded with some close-up views of mountains in the Annapurna region. The triggering views of Annapurna I, II, IV, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, etc. from the ridge is heart whelming. There is a lake called Kaire lake near the ridge. We visit the lake and enjoy the serenity of the environment. Further, we drop down to Nayapul via Ulleri and conclude our journey with a drive back to Kathmandu.

The first day marks your arrival day in Kathmandu. Clear all the visa requirements and customs clearance if any at the arrival section of the airport. As you come out, you will find a representative from World Alpine Treks waiting for you holding a board with your name. You will then be transferred to your hotel at Kathmandu. The representative will shortly inform you about the plans ahead.

The second day is a day tour just to warm up prior to your trekking journey. Kathmandu is a city enriched with artistic palaces, beautiful monuments, ancient temples, and other constructions of historical and cultural importance. No wonder, the city has seven out of ten UNESCO listed world heritage sites. Today, you will be guided to the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. These heritages are perfect examples of rich history, fine culture and architectural treasures of Nepal. At first, you will be taken to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The art, crafts, and carvings in the palaces, temples and other monuments of the durbar square are excellent. After that, you will be escorted to Swayambhunath stupa (Monkey temple), Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa respectively. (Inclusive of breakfast)

In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel for a drive to the lakeside city of Pokhara. Today, we take a scenic drive along the Prithvi highway for around six to seven hours to Pokhara. We pass through some amazing landscapes throughout the journey. In the first half portion, we will be able to get some stunning views of the Trishuli river along with hills and villages. In the second half, the countryside landscape and the greenery will keep you engaged. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to a hotel in Pokhara. Check in to the hotel and rest for a while. In the evening, we can walk down lakeside and enjoy some fascinating views of lakes and mountains. Tonight, we stay at a hotel in Pokhara (inclusive of breakfast and lunch)

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we take a short drive for around an hour to Nayapul. It is the actual start point of our trekking journey. From Nayapul, we start walking through a lush and pristine route enjoying the majestic views of mountains to the village of Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a popular village in that area inhabited by people of the Sherpa community. This is the community of the great British Gurkha soldiers. The place is more popular for the warm hospitality of Sherpa people. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse/ lodges in Ghandruk. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

Today, we leave Ghandruk and make our way up to Tadapani. Our morning starts with a delicious breakfast at the guesthouse. Then we warm up ourselves with some majestic views of Mt. Macchapuchhre, Mt. Annapurna and Hiunchuli. With the views of mountains in sight, we climb upwards through the village of Deurali into a dense forest of rhododendron. We walk pass the village and climb up until we reach the village of Tadapani. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse/ lodges in Tadapani (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

Today, we leave the main trail of the Annapurna region and diverse towards an off beaten trail that leads us to the Khopra ridge. For the next five days, we will be walking into the remote sections of the Annapurna region. It’s a wonderful day walk along with the lush and charming forests of rhododendron, oak, and fir. Moving ahead, we come across a huge pasture. As we climb up, we will notice that we have come to almost no tree area. Today, we stop at BayeriKharka. The Kharka offers some stunning views of Mt. Dhaulagiri in the west. Tonight, we stay at a guesthouse/ lodges in BayeliKharka (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

Leaving BayeliKharka, we walk along a grassy slope that traverses to some pasturelands. As we walk through the pastures, we can see yak herders, small huts, and animals grazing in the grassland. The animals grazing in the large pastures within the pristine environment is an amazing view to look at.  If lucky, we can also get a glimpse of pheasant today. It is a national bird of Nepal found in the high altitudinal region. You may also encounter some Himalayan Thar as you walk pass the trail to Chistibung. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

Early in the morning, we wake up and climb up steadily along the alpine meadows and grasslands. We follow the trail with wonderful views of Annapurna South on sight. we are very close to Khopra ridge today. We walk continuously until we reach Khopra ridge. From the ridge, we will be rewarded with some striking views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Annapurna South, etc. Today, we spend our time in the ridge enjoying the majestic views of mountains. Tonight, at Khopra ridge. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

It’s an interesting day at Khopra ridge. We wake up with beautiful views of mountains right before us. After breakfast, we hike towards Khayer lake which is a wonderful place to be at near Khopra ridge. Upon our arrival in the lake, we can enjoy some striking views of Fang and other surrounding mountains. as per Hindu mythology, Khayer lake is considered to be a holy lake. A holy dip into the lake is supposed to help one attain Nirvana. We can even notice some Hindu and Buddhist shrines in the periphery of the shrine. After visiting the lake, we return back to Khopra ridge for the night. Tonight, at Khopra ridge. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

Today, we leave Khopra ridge and descend down steep along the hillside with astonishing views of lush landscape and Mt. Dhaulagiri on sight. we walk down along the terraced farmlands and charming villages on the way until we reach the village of Swanta. Tonight, at Swanta village. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

 

Leaving Swanta village, we further descend down via farmlands, fields, and forests on the way to a river. From the river, we can get a sneak peek of a locally made water mill. We cross a suspension bridge over the river and ascend up to the village called Chitter. We walk for a while from the village to join a trail that leads us to Ghorepani. We do not take the trail to Ghorepani but return down the trail to the village of Ulleri. Tonight, at Ullerivillage. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

We are almost at the end of our trekking journey. Today, we descend down the forested area with beautiful sights of hills and mountains to Pokhara. In the evening, you can explore around the streets of Pokhara. The pristine air beside the Phewa lake with wonderful views of mountains and colorful boats is an amazing experience. If you have time, you can opt for a sightseeing tour around Pokhara city on an additional cost. Tonight, we stay at a hotel in Pokhara. (Inclusive of breakfast and lunch)

Concluding our trip, we drive back via the same route along the Prithvi Highway to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. Tonight, we stay at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Inclusive of breakfast and lunch)

Before a few hours of your scheduled flight, you will be transferred to the international terminal of Tribhuwan International airport. (Inclusive of Breakfast)
