Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek is often confused with Everest Base Camp Trek. But these treks are totally different from one another. One can observe the mightiness of Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world from two different sides. The southern side lies in Nepal whereas the northern face lies in Tibet. Unlike long walks to southern face, one can reach the northern side of Mt. Everest via an overland drive. Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek is a journey to the northern ridge of Mt. Everest which lies in the Tibetan territory. The route is challenging but the captivating views of mountains and mountainous landscapes are worth it.

 

Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek starts with a flight to Lukla. In Lhasa, you can explore places like Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Norbulingka Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Boker Street. After an insightful sightseeing tour around the cultural, historical, and religious sites in Lhasa, you will be driven to Rongbuk Valley. We drive past Shigatse and cross Kamba La and Karo La to Rongbuk. From Rongbuk, we walk towards the Everest Base Camp and explore the surrounding area admiring the glory of the mighty Mt. Everest. You will be blessed with some captivating views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Sishapangma, etc.

 

Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek is easy in terms of physical exhilaration. You will not have to walk for long days through difficult terrain. You can easily drive to the base camp. However, sustaining the rising elevation is the main challenge. During the drive, you will be gaining altitude rapidly. Your body may not be able to cope with such rapid changes in elevation. Therefore, proper acclimatization is a must for Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek.

The first day marks your arrival day in Kathmandu. Clear all the visa requirements and customs clearance if any at the arrival section of the airport. As you come out, you will find a representative from World Alpine Treks waiting for you holding a board with your name. You will then be transferred to your hotel at Kathmandu. The representative will shortly inform you about the plans ahead.

The second day is a day tour just to warm up prior to your trekking journey. Kathmandu is a city enriched with artistic palaces, beautiful monuments, ancient temples and other constructions of historical and cultural importance. No wonder, the city has seven out of ten UNESCO listed world heritage sites. Today, you will be guided to the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. These heritages are perfect examples of rich history, fine culture and architectural treasures of Nepal. At first, you will be taken to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The art, crafts, and carvings in the palaces, temples and other monuments of the durbar square are excellent. After that, you will be escorted to Swayambhunath stupa (Monkey temple), Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa respectively. (Inclusive of breakfast)

Take a scenic flight above the Himalayas to Lhasa. Upon arrival, our Tibetan crew will pick you up at the airport and escort you to a hotel in Lhasa. You can relax at your hotel for the rest of the time. Tonight, at a hotel in Lhasa

Lhasa is a capital city and administrative center of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. The religious, cultural and historical heritages of Tibet are also centralized in this city. Also referred to as the place of Gods, Lhasa is a beautiful city preserved with some ancient palaces, temples, and monasteries. Today is the first day of a sightseeing tour around Lhasa city. You will be escorted to some wonderful places like Sera Monastery, Norbulingka palace, Jokhang temple, and Bakor street. Sera monastery is a large monastery that shelters many monks following Buddhism and its teachings. Norbulingka Palace is a grand summer palace of Dalai Lama that dominates the entire Lhasa city. Jokhang is an ancient temple that is surrounded by Bakor Street, a busy street around the temple. Tonight, at a hotel in Lhasa (Inclusive of breakfast)

In Lhasa, we have so many places to explore. Today, we visit the Potala palace and Drepung monastery. Potala Palace is a grand palace of the Dalai Lama that dominates the entire Lhasa city. The red and white washed walls of the palace are distinctly visible from far away. Built-in the 14th century, the Drepung monastery was once the largest monastery in the entire world. After visiting these places, we return back to our hotel in Lhasa for the night (Inclusive of breakfast)

After sightseeing in Lhasa, we head towards our Everest Base Camp Tour. We enjoy our breakfast at the hotel and continue with our drive along Tsango River. We drive up to Khampa La from where we will be rewarded with amazing views of Yamdrok lake and Ningdzingzonka peak. Further, we drive towards Gyantse. Here, we stop to visit Pelkor monastery and Gyantse Kumbum. After exploring the monasteries, one and half hour drive more will lead us to Shigatse. Tonight, at a guesthouse in Shigatse (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

We wake up early in the morning and visit Panchen Lama’s Tashihumpu monastery in Shigatse. Then we return back to guesthouse for breakfast. After breakfast, we continue with our drive. We drive along a stunning landscape and ascend up to Gyatchula pass at 5200 meters. Further, we drive to Xegar for overnight stay. Tonight, at a guesthouse in Xegar (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Leaving Xegar, we turn off the friendship highway and drive towards south. We drive over Pang La at an elevation of 5150 meters towards the main Himalayan section in Tibet. As we drive forward, we will be blessed with some stunning and undisturbed views of Himalayas that stretches from Mt. Makalu to Mt. Shishapangma. At we reach at the corner of Rongbuk valley, we will be rewarded with some astonishing views of Everest. Tonight, we stay at a government guesthouse in Rongbuk monastery. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Today, we head towards the Everest Base Camp and spend our day exploring the alluring views of mountains and Tibetan landscapes. As we have already gained enough height, we spend our time in base camp to acclimatize ourselves with the rising elevation. We explore beautiful hills and Tibetan terrain in the backdrop of beautiful Himalayas. Tonight, at Everest Base Camp (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Today, we leave Everest Base Camp and follow a trail along the Rongbuk glacier. As we walk pass the glacier, it feels as if we are travelling through the frozen ocean of ice waves. After walking over the gravel trail for a while, we walk along the lateral moraine of Rongbuk glacier. After walking for around an hour, we continue steeply to Japanese Camp situated under a huge yellow colored rock. From this point, one can relish some empowering views of Pumori Himal. Tonight, at Japanese Camp (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Today, we march towards the Interim camp enjoying the appealing views of mountain pinnacles. Interim camp lies at the end of the glacier nearby. To reach the camp, we walk towards a dusty valley that showers us with the magnificent views of Rongbuk glacier, Mt. Pumori and Mt. Nuptse. The route to Interim Camp is technically easy but it might be harsh in terms of high altitudinal region. Tonight, at Interim Camp (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Mt. Changtse refers to the northern side of Everest. It is the side adjacent to north of the mighty Everest. Today, after breakfast, we leave Interim Camp and trek towards Changtse Base Camp. From this base camp, you can rejoice the beauty of Mt. Everest in real terms. Mt. Everest looks so beautiful, so wild and so generous at the same time. Tonight, we stay at Changtse Base Camp (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

From Changtse Base Camp, we follow a trail to the eastside of Rongbuk glacier. Today, we head close to Everest and Lhakpa Ri. We walk pass the moraines ruins to Advanced Everest Base Camp. The Advance Everest Base Camp lies very close to Changtse glacier. From the base camp, the Everest looks very close and tempting. Advanced Everest Base Camp trek is the closest point of Everest that any non climber can reach. From the base camp, we return back to Changtse Base Camp for overnight stay. (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Leaving Changtse Base Camp, we trek down to Everest Base Camp enjoying some captivating views of mountains and mountainous terrain. From the Everest Base Camp, we hop into a ride that will drive us to Tingri. Tonight, at a guesthouse in Tingri (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Leaving Tingri, we drive towards Kerung. We are almost at the final days of the tour. We drive over Lulang La at 5050 meters enjoying some picturesque views of Mt. Cho-oyu and Mt. Shishapangma to Kerung. Tonight, at a guesthouse in Kerung (Inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Today, we clear all the immigration formalities at the custom office in border to enter into Nepalese territory. We drive along the scenic landscapes full of greenery and countryside houses to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be dropped at your hotel in Kathmandu. (Inclusive of breakfast, and lunch)

After 18 days long tour, it’s a leisure day in Kathmandu. You have many options for the day. You can either relax at your hotel or opt for sightseeing around some more heritage sites or spend your time shopping in Kathmandu. Tonight, at a hotel in Kathmandu (Inclusive of breakfast)

Concluding the journey, you will be transferred to the international airport in Kathmandu for your journey onwards.
